I am one

A few nights ago I woke up at about three o’clock in the morning and heard a voice in my head saying; “I am one”. I was too tired to think much about it then but the next morning when I got up I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and the strange thing is that I have been reminded over and over again since! Sure my favorite meditation mantra has been “So hum” (“I am” in sanskrit) for years, but this is something special and new; I have never consciously thought of it as “I am one”.

This made me think more about the oneness that I have sometimes experienced so fully when walking in the woods around where I live, because I almost always have that experience in nature. A few times I have felt it when I have been  with like minded people and it is an amazing feeling, but for me it is easier to get into that feeling in nature.

I am oneI still haven’t been able to figure out why I hear and read this message so often nowadays, but I have a feeling it is urgent so therefore I am writing this post as a musing over what it means to me.

So hum

The first time I recall hearing the phrase was during a meditation series by Deepak Chopra and Oprah where they used So hum as a mantra, and then Wayne Dyer explained that “I am” is the only name given for God in the Bible. This, to me, is yet another connection between religions and spiritual philosophies, which I think is wonderful. If we could all become more aware of the fact that we are all one, then war would become impossible!

Care for this planet

Oneness is also something that will help us all realize that we have to take care of our planet and everything in and on it. Since we are one with animals, plants and the Earth itself, we have to be more considerate and take better care of everything. Polluting and hurting other species for our own selfish reasons is not an option when we feel oneness.

I am one

We also have to stop believing that we are so superior that we can successfully meddle with the workings of nature! We are doing so many stupid things and “playing God” to such an extent that we have now come to a situation where the generation that is growing up now is believed to be the first generation that will not become older than their parents! This is what we have created for our children, and it is not something to be proud of!

Cleaner living

We now have to start cleaning up our act and put a stop to worshiping the almighty dollar and instead realize that if we want our children and grandchildren to stand a chance; no more GMO, pollution, excessive use of pesticides, unnecessary medicines and a whole lot more. Instead we have to begin growing our food the old fashioned natural way, using manure instead of artificial fertilizers. The animals we grow for consumption should not be  given antibiotics if they don’t need it and  they should get good food instead of GMO-corn and other unnatural food.

We are not separate

Even if we have been taught we are separate from everything and everyone else; that is not so! We cannot live on this planet without the other species and nature itself. We don’t want to see it, but Mother Earth will survive long after we have gone and if we don’t accept the thought that we are one; she will make sure to remove us quite soon, just like we try to get rid of things we don’t like.

If we accept and acknowledge that we are all one we stand a chance. If we don’t, some other species will get a chance to do what we have been unable to do; live, love and care for Mother Earth.

  1. Kristina, I wasn’t quite sure where you were going, but your writing held my interest. I thought maybe you were going to go into ‘Mindfulness’ (living in the moment) which is a subject I have a great deal of interest in.

When you got to GMO’s and the greed that the polluters put before all else, you had me firmly hooked. When we have no air to breath or water to drink or food to nourish us, what do they plan to live on?

I’m sure they have a plan and most of us are not a part of that plan. They have all the money, but we have the numbers. We must become aware of what is happening and then let them know that we know.

I am fully responsible for everything that happens to me. So are we all.

    1. Hi Phil!

Thank you, how kind of you! This was just a thought that came from the dream I had when I woke up. I have written about mindfulness too, and reviewed some books on the subject and I try to incorporate it in my daily practices too.
I do wonder how the greedy people are planning to survive when there is no clean water and no healthy food left and it baffles me how money can be so important that they don’t see what they are doing. Even if they don’t care about the rest of us; they do need customers to pay for the crap they serve us too!
Yes, you are right; we are all responsible for what happens to us, and we have to stay informed so we don’t just buy into what we are told by the ‘authorities’.
      Blessings, Kristina

  2. Hi Kristina

It is beautifully written, and I like it. 🙂

This article is pretty interesting and I agree that we are one and we are to take care of the planet and everything in it. 🙂

Well-done!! Once again, thanks so much for a delightful article on “I am one”.

    1. Hi Jewel Carol!
Thanks for dropping by and thank you for your kind words 🙂

We really have to open our eyes and start working together, the destruction and devastation has gone too far! We cannot go on like this any longer without killing ourselves in the process. We have the means and we have the knowledge so now we just have to get started 🙂

      Namaste, Kristina

  3. Hi Kristina,
    Loved your article.
Yes,we must return to the basics and respect nature.
We,the world, are doing the exact opposite as of now.
Agree with what Phil had to say.
Thank you for your thoughts 🙂

    1. Hi Edmund, thanks for your kind comment 🙂
We really do have to realize that this is the only home we have and start taking care of it. All the pesticides and plastic and other bad stuff we spread around is killing the planet and us with it.
      Namaste, Kristina
